            Farheen Khan is a consultant, writer and social activist. Currently working as the Manager, Development at Interim Place Women's Shelter, she is an advocate for Women’s rights, specifically for survivors of sexual violence. Farheen is a graduate of CITY Leaders and Maytree Foundation's Leaders for Change and the DiverseCity Fellows 2010. 

            Farheen has experience working with Boards as well as grass roots initiatives for capacity building including but not limited to: organizational, community and resource development, as well as special events planning, marketing and communications. 

            Currently Farheen sits on the Board of Directors of Federation of Muslim Women, CAMP Canada (Council for the Advancement of Muslim Professionals) and Way to Inner Peace (WiP). Other organizations she has been involved with include: Media Action (formerly media watch), United Way of Peel, United Way of York Region, United Way of Greater Toronto, York Region Food Network, For Youth Initiative (FYI), Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Toronto, Social Planning Council Toronto, Louise Russo's WAVE, Council for the Advancement of Muslim Professionals - Toronto Chapter (CAMP Toronto), Sexual Assault/Rape Crisis Centre of Peel and more.

            Farheen is also the author of a book titled “From Behind the Veil: A Hijabi’s Journey to Happiness” which is available online and speaks about her experience as a Muslim woman experiencing gendered Islamophobia post 9/11 and her journey from Corporate Canada to Social Justice as a result. Her two new publications are set to be released in 2012: 1) “Hijabi Diaries” a play speaks to the inter and intra community challenges that Muslim Women in particular face in the North American context and 2) "A Hijabi's Journey to Live, Laugh and Love"
