1. Make a monetary donation to a cause of your choice.
2. Volunteer your time for a cause and/or one time event.
3. Raise money for an organization and/or charity of your choice.
4. Join the board of a non profit organization as a volunteer board of director.
5. Start up your own grass roots initiative to fill in a gap that you identify.
6. Write in response to media articles, policy changes, human rights violations and so on.
7. Participate in the political arena; start by volunteering for a political campaign.
8. Get involved with a Leadership Program e.g. United Way's CITY Leaders or Maytree Foundation
